    Table Info

Our User Rating – This is our own opinion based on our research of the product through our own and/or other user’s testing and testimonials. Clicking through to one of the featured products directs you to Amazon’s product page, where you’ll find reviews depicted by real customers. We highly recommend that you read what they say about the model you’re interested in.

Best Value / Top Rated / Top Specs – Products that we consider to excel in a certain area such as value for money, reputation or technology have been given one of our aforementioned labels of recognition.

Cord – This cord length of a steam iron is usually no less than 7 feet, and some are able to rotate at a 360 degree angle for easy ironing, and even retract into the iron itself.

Auto Off – A steam iron with this feature will automatically turn itself off when the iron is idol for a certain period of time depending on whether its stood upright or flat on the soleplate.

Auto Clean – Many steam irons are able to clean itself automatically with features such as Anti-Scale and Anti-Calc which removes water impurities to ensure a longer lifetime.

Soleplate – One of the most important parts of an iron is the soleplate, which determines how smooth and easy it is to iron clothes, and the longevity of the iron itself. Stainless steel is commonly used as it’s rust resistant, while a nonstick soleplate glides better over clothing.

Hole – This is the amount of holes that are in the soleplate to help distribute steam and heat evenly. The more holes there are and the careful placement of these holes makes ironing more efficient.

Water Tank – The amount of water that can be held in either the base or handle affects how long you can iron before having to refill again.

Extra Features – Other features worth mentioning are vertical steam (removes creases from hanging garments, curtains etc.), anti-drip (controls the water dripping from steam vents), steam shot (triggers a burst of steam onto the fabric, measured in grams per minute), and variable/adjustable steam (different steam settings for different types of garments).

Price – If you want to know the price of any of the models, just click on the Buy Now button or Check Price and you’ll be redirected to the product page on Amazon.com. The reason we don’t put prices is because they constantly change and there are so many sellers offering different prices.

Top 5 Best Steam Iron Picks

Here is a brief overview of the top 5 best steam irons in our comparison table. You’ll find out why we’ve chosen these steam irons to lead the chart.

    1) Rowenta DW5080 Focus

rowenta dw5080 best steam ironOur User Rating: 4.4 Stars

Why has this reached the number 1 spot on our comparison chart? Out of all the DW series from Rowenta, we consider the DW5080 to offer the most value for money. It’s not low budget neither is it too expensive, which allows Rowenta to produce an efficient steam iron for everyday use. Here are some of its highlights:

    • Its stainless steel 400 hole Microsteam soleplate is designed in a way that steam is evenly distributed throughout the entire soleplate from the bottom and sides, right up to its pointy tip.
    • You don’t have to worry much about maintaining the iron because the DW5080 Focus has an integrated self-cleaning system and an anti-calc feature which both ensures that the irons lifespan is extended.
    • We love the particularly large thermostat knob just beneath the soft grip handle, which allows you to easily adjust the steam temperature according to the type of fabric you’re ironing.

    2) Rowenta DW6080 Eco Intelligence

rowenta dw6080 best steam ironOur User Rating: 4.5 Stars

Although it shares much of the same qualities as the DW5080 Focus, Rowenta has separated the DW6080 Eco Intelligence by incorporating a uniquely attractive design that complements its eco-friendly features. To be honest, this could have easily been at the top spot if it wasn’t for the DW5080’s lower price point. Here are some of the top aspects of this wonderful steam iron:

    • You will get the same stainless steel 400 hole Microsteam soleplate as seen on many of the DW series, but with the DW6080 Eco-Intelligence steam iron, there’s a 3D design implemented which is intended to direct steam below the soleplate for better steam efficiency.
    • Talking about steam, the steam output is impressive on this. This steam iron releases 180g/min of steam power on its highest setting, almost double that of the DW6080 Focus.
    • It’s not called Eco Intelligence for no reason. The Eco setting is one of three steam optimization settings, and when activated, it saves 25% of energy by delivering the optimum steam output required.

    3) T-Fal FV4495 Ultraglide Easycord

tfal fv4495 best steam ironOur User Rating: 4.5 Stars

Voted by our team as the best value steam iron, the T-Fal FV4495 Ultraglide Easycord manages to hold a low price point without compromising on functionality and design.

    • The 1725 watts ensures that this steam iron heats up quickly, allowing you to get on with your ironing sooner.
    • The design of the cord is nothing short of brilliant. It has a flaptail cord that moves up and down and holds the very long 12 foot cord in place. At no point of ironing will the cord ever get in the way.
    • It baffles us how T-Fal manages to offer so many features in one iron for such a low price. Features that include auto-clean, anti-calc and anti-drip usually demands a higher price, but we’re not complaining.

    4) Black & Decker D2030

black & decker d2030 best steam ironOur User Rating: 4.4 Stars

The bestselling steam iron on Amazon is the Black & Decker D2030 thanks to its great value and many favourable user reviews. Its design looks simple and operates exactly the same way – Simple.

    • The unique selling point and in my opinion, the best feature on the D2030 is its LCD display. This is what makes ironing easy with this steam iron. You select a number according to the fabric settings located beneath the handle, and the steam will automatically regulate itself according to that.
    • It’s not too heavy that your wrist tires out from a long ironing session, but it’s also not too light that there isn’t enough weight to press the wrinkles out your clothes. At 3.2lbs, the weight is just about right.
    • What’s impressive is not that this steam iron has a motion-sensor auto-off, but that you can actually turn it off manually instead of waiting for it to turn off or pulling the plug. This is a feature not seen in many auto-off steam irons.

    5) Panasonic NI-E650TR

panasonic NI-E650TR best steam ironOur User Rating: 4.3 Stars

Here’s another great value steam iron in the form of the purple colored Panasonic NI-E650TR, and although not as popular as the former two on this list, it still offers good all-round performance and features. Among its most notable are:

    • Where the soleplate of most steam irons have a more straight edged rear end, this steam iron has a U-shape instead, which is designed to circulate steam beneath the soleplate for smoother ironing.
    • Ah yes! Here’s something so simple and useful that every steam iron should have – A retractable cord that saves space. Never do you have to wrap the cord around your steam iron again.
    • You also have the self-clean and anti-calc features on this inexpensive steam iron, which is rarely seen in models as cheap as the Panasonic NI-E650TR.
